Description

Bullying has become a serious problem among adolescents and teens. And today’s advancements in technology have made it easier for bullies to gain access to their victims. No longer are verbal and physical acts of violence the primary methods of attack and abuse. Today’s bullies communicate in ways that are often behind the scenes and unknown by adults. They use text messages, blogs, e-mail, letters, websites, and other social media to spread rumors and threats. Unfortunately, there is no escape for the victim, and no place is considered off limits.

Remember, PLAY IT SAFE!

The desire to reduce pain and suffering of children and empower youth to be the best they can be is what inspired Karl A. Floyd to create his Professor Gulu stories and the Cerebrophonic music series.

With a focus on increasing youth coping skills, safety awareness, self-esteem, judgment and decision-making abilities, Professor Gulu’s learning series has become a powerful tool to help gauge youth progress towards emotional maturity. In addition, the series will help parents and guardians learn effective communication skills and develop insight and understanding on complex issues that affect youth development.

A resident of Fort Bend County, Texas, Karl lives with his wife and business partner, Ann Branch-Floyd, and develops educational and therapeutic resources that support healthy community development. He holds a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Houston, University Park, and works as a behavioral healthcare professional. Karl is a former Statewide Health Coordinating Council Member with the Governor’s Office of Boards and Commissions (2004-2010) and is licensed in Texas as a professional counselor. In addition, he is certified as a Fellow and Diplomate with the American Board of Medical Psychotherapists and Psychodiagnosticians.

I think that teaching children about sensitive topics such as bullying, predators, online safety, and even simple things they need to mature such as fire safety, and how to treat peers, is more important than ever for healthy moral and social development. Engaging children is more difficult with so much information and entertainment available, and limited resources to get your children’s attention back on what they need to learn. Professor Gulu’s music and activity workbooks are a great tool for teaching your kids important lessons or getting them engaged in group activities where they can learn from each other. I recommend using Professor Gulu’s songs to help kids learn early, because they will remember songs from childhood long after a conversation is forgotten.

The principles Professor Gulu teaches to children are highly beneficial in navigating in today’s society. The scenario of the chat room helps children and teens to recognize the dangers of unmonitored online activity. It is also a very beneficial resource for parents and guardians. The specific tips that are outlined are thoroughly age appropriate. All parents should be informed of the realities of internet predators and openly discussing it with their children. This book helps aid that discussion in an engaging and fun manner for all ages.

Thanks to reading Professor Gulu’s book, “KIDS AND BULLYING,” my grandchildren are no longer clueless on how to respond to a bully. The book presents an amazing short story that is thought-provoking, entertaining, and full of powerful strategies, insights, and resources on effective ways to deal with bullying and cyber bullying. My grandchildren were fully captivated by the surprising twists and turns from one scene to the next. However, most importantly, they learned they were never alone and powerless to stop bullying. This book is a must for all parents and young children

I am a junior high educator and I recommend the lyric book to any parent! My children absolutely love to sing along to the Professor Gulu songs and it’s great to have the lyrics so that you can see what your kids are actually saying. My 5 year olds reading fluency is also improving as he’s singing along to the lyric book.

I downloaded the lyrics to my iBooks on my phone and also onto my children’s iPads. These catchy tunes will have your kiddos entertained and learning at the same time. Professor Gulu rocks!
